Volunteer Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct assists Voices of Goldstein to maintain a harmonious and ethical environment which upholds our purpose, mission, vision, and values. This Code of Conduct applies to all members of Voices of Goldstein.
Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Values
Members are expected to behave in ways that are aligned with our purpose, vision, mission, and values.
Our Purpose: To engage the community in democracy and to have politicians who listen to the community and take action accordingly in state Parliament.
Our Vision: To establish a sustainable community movement across the Goldstein district.
Our Mission: To build a collaborative, trustworthy and respectful democracy by involving the wider Goldstein community.
Our Values:
- Fairness – treating all people with dignity and justice and systemic action to address inequality;
- Sustainability – thinking long-term, respecting our community, environment and accelerating climate action;
- Integrity – demanding ethical and transparent conduct from our leaders and institutions, calling out corruption and self-serving behaviour.
Policy
The Code of Conduct sets out the expected standard of behaviour of all members of Voices of Goldstein.
The Code of Conduct and the behaviours outlined within it are fundamental to building healthy, positive and respectful relationships within our community. It governs the way in which all our members are expected to relate towards each other and toward all who live in the District of Bentleigh and beyond.
The Code of Conduct is not intended to provide a detailed and exhaustive list of what to do. Instead it represents a broad framework that will help guide conduct and behaviour within and on behalf of Voices of Goldstein.
Standards of Behaviour
We will hold ourselves to the highest standards:

- We will respect the rights and opinions of others;
- We will focus on policies not personalities;
- We will do everything in our power to make our participation in Voices of Goldstein a positive and fun experience for all.
We will focus on positivity:
- While all feelings, concerns, and opinions are valid, in order to achieve our goals we understand that decisions will be made based on achieving the best result;
- We won’t make things personal, or take things personally;
- We trust in the leadership team to set the best course possible. We will strive to take action on their decisions to the best of our ability and offer respectful input in order to achieve the overall mission of Voices of Bentleigh.
We will respect and learn from each other:
- We will work enthusiastically to create the movement that will fulfill our purpose, vision, and mission, engaging with our communities appropriately;
- We will value and respect the differences within our organisation, paying attention to being inclusive in our interactions;
There will be a conflict resolution and disciplinary process for occasions that cannot be resolved informally; - We will respect the decisions made on our behalf by our committee;
- We will work as a team. We will contribute our best ideas, offer constructive criticism when appropriate, engage in problem solving, and help anticipate future problems;
